His father was a taxi driver and mother ran a knitting shop. He started a business at the age of 12 when he borrowed $200 from his uncle and bought a license for selling newspapers. Then, he took interest in business and borrow more money from his uncle and started a candy-vending-machine business at the age of 16. He also joined City College of New York but left and decided to start a full-time business.

He lost everything when Oracle nearly went bankrupt in the early 1990’s.
